Dear Graduating Class of 2025 and Beyond
The Peace of the Lord!
As you prepare to go forth from Hekima University College (HUC), we send you with deep gratitude, pride, and hope. You have not only studied here—you have grown, served, and borne witness. Some of you are now deacons, others will soon be ordained priests. But all of you are called to be living signs of hope in a world that longs for depth, integrity, and compassion.
An African proverb reminds us: “When the roots are deep, there is no reason to fear the wind.” May your ministry be rooted in character and nourished by the formation you received at HUC. In time, few will remember your stoles or chasubles—but they will never forget your presence, your character, your integrity, your faithfulness, your staying focused without losing yourself in what is trivial.
We are especially moved by the words of Deacon Jaison Joseph, who recently reflected on his journey at Hekima:
“When I arrived at HUC, I came with questions—some theological, some personal. What I found was not just a school, but a community that welcomed me, challenged me, and helped me grow. The professors opened our minds, the spiritual direction touched our hearts, and the friendships we formed here became a source of strength. Hekima gave me more than academic excellence—it gave me clarity and courage for my vocation.”
Deacon Jaison’s story is just one among many—but it captures the heart of what Hekima strives to be.
We ask you to take a moment to share this recent video about Hekima with others, especially those who might be discerning their next steps:

Please also subscribe to the Hekima Review and encourage your networks to engage with the critical thought and dialogue shaping the Church and society. We warmly encourage you—and others you know—to consider applying for our Master of Theology (MTh) and Licentiate in Sacred Theology (STL) programs in all four areas: Scripture, Systematic, Moral and Pastoral. In today’s rapidly changing world with all its complexities, a first degree in theology alone is no longer sufficient. We invite you to go further still in the spirit of Ignatian Magis.

Also, help us promote our Master of Arts in Peace Studies and International Relations—a program truly unique in Africa and urgently needed in our increasingly broken world. At Hekima, we believe that peacemakers must be formed as deeply as theologians.

Please help us publicize our certificate program in theology—see the attached posters for more details. For more information, share the link to our website: www.hekima.ac.ke and those with questions can write to our HUC Registrar: Rev. Dr. George Macharia, SJ: registrar@hekima.ac.ke
We’ve enclosed some posters—please be our ambassadors. Share them, speak about your experience, and invite others into this journey. We are convinced that HUC offers not only excellent academic formation, but the kind of formation that transforms lives and communities. Soon, you’ll see just how true that is.
Travel safely, and know that we are united with you in spirit and prayer. Wherever you go, you remain part of the Hekima family and some of you will be part of its leadership and scholarship some day and hopefully soon! Strive to be the best you can become!
With every blessing,
Your Hekima University College Community
