INTERCLASS TOURNAMENT 2026
Pignatelli 3 – 2 Gonzaga
The Hekima University College Interclass Tournament continued on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, with Team Gonzaga and Team Pignatelli meeting in the first volleyball match of the competition. The closely contested encounter went the full distance, with Pignatelli eventually winning 3–2.
The opening set went to 25 points, with Pignatelli taking an early lead, 25–20. Gonzaga responded strongly in the second set, matching Pignatelli’s intensity and claiming the set 25–20 to level the contest at one set apiece.
Pignatelli regained the advantage in the third set, winning 25–17. Gonzaga again responded in the fourth set, winning 25–17 and forcing a decisive fifth set.
The fifth set, played to 15 points, provided a dramatic conclusion. Gonzaga built a five-point lead and looked poised to close out the match. Pignatelli, however, mounted a comeback and turned the momentum in their favour. They eventually won the deciding set 16–14, completing a 3–2 victory over Gonzaga.
The result made Pignatelli the winners of a tightly fought opening volleyball encounter, while Gonzaga’s performance demonstrated their competitiveness throughout the five sets. The match added an exciting dimension to the ongoing interclass competition and set the stage for further volleyball fixtures in the tournament.
