The 2026 Hekima University College Interclass Tournament got underway on Thursday, 3 September 2026, with Team Bobadilla (First Years) and Team Gonzaga (Second Years) playing to a goalless draw at Ligi Ndogo Grounds.
The tournament, which brings together three teams, Bobadilla, Gonzaga and Pignatelli, features football, volleyball and basketball competitions throughout September. Football fixtures are scheduled for Thursdays, with matches beginning at 3:00 p.m.
The opening football fixture saw Team Bobadilla take on Team Gonzaga in an engaging contest between students drawn from different programmes and levels of formation.
Team Bobadilla started the match strongly, pressing forward and causing difficulties for the Gonzaga defence in the opening stages. Gonzaga, however, gradually settled into the game, and both sides began to share possession as the first half progressed.
Despite chances at both ends, neither side broke the deadlock, and the teams went into half-time 0–0.
The second half produced the closest moment to a breakthrough when Gonzaga were awarded a penalty after a Bobadilla player handled the ball inside the penalty area. Precious, representing Team Gonzaga, stepped up to take the spot kick, but his effort struck the crossbar and stayed out.
Both teams continued to compete for the decisive goal, but neither found a breakthrough before the final whistle. The opening fixture therefore ended Team Bobadilla 0–0 Team Gonzaga, with both teams taking one point.
The match marked the beginning of a month-long sporting competition intended to foster interaction, teamwork and community among students at Hekima University College.
Next Football Fixture
