CUEA Senate Approves HUC Proposed Programs

The Senate of the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), to which Hekima University College is a constituent college, has unanimously approved all three programs presented on March 23, 2025, by a team of officials from HUC, led by the Principal, Rev. Dr. Marcel Uwineza, SJ. The news of the program approvals, which include a Bachelor of Arts in Migration, Security, and Diplomacy, a Bachelor of Science in Innovation and Social Entrepreneurship, and a Master of Spirituality program, was shared by the HUC Principal on 26th March in an email to the college community.

“With great joy, I am pleased to inform you that the Senate has unanimously approved the three programs we presented, allowing us to proceed to the next crucial stage—submission to the Commission for University Education (CUE), the national body responsible for accreditation and quality assurance,” Dr. Marcel stated. He added that if the CUEA Senate had rejected the proposal, HUC would have had to return to the drawing board and could not proceed. Expressing immense gratitude to God for enabling Hekima to achieve this significant milestone, Dr. Uwineza entrusted the process to divine providence and requested prayers from everyone at Hekima so that the journey may be successful. “We humbly seek His continued guidance, wisdom, and vision as we proceed.”

He also thanked everyone who has contributed in any way towards realizing this milestone, expressing that he feels deeply indebted to the team, as their dedication and collaboration have been invaluable. He urged everyone not to relent on this journey, as it is still a long way to go. “As an African proverb reminds us: If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together. May we continue to walk together in the service of Christ’s Mission,” Dr. Uwineza implored.
